Heron Pillow
On a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest they have over 600 nesting Great Blue Herons that call Davis Slough Heronry home. It is a fascinating sight to see them wading on the shoreline, roosted in the trees, swooping in for a landing, or standing motionless in the shallow marsh. Our artist has been blessed to witness the sound of feathers brushing against each other as a solitary heron wings by just overhead. The Great Blue on this 19" square pillow was designed on a photo of a heron doing what it does best -- leaving. But not without emitting a very inelegant noise that can best be desribed as a loud "GRONK!". (How incongruous that something so beautiful can sound so awful! Rusty door hinge? Angry zombie? Continental shift?) Herons stand over four feet tall and have a six-foot wingspan, so they need to catch alot of fish, shrimp, crabs, mice, frogs, bugs, snakes and soforth to sustain their eight pound weight. Great Blue Herons are found almost everywhere in North America and Central America. Depicted in nontoxic textile paint, heat-set for permanence, then sewn, stuffed, signed and copyrighted by the artist on location in Heron Land. Spot cleanable, hoseable, or gentle machine washable; air dry flat. Stands up to sun, wind, rain, heat, cold, and political upheaval. Removable polyester fiberfill insert is machine washable and dryable. Gronk! | |||||||
