Lion's Mane Jellyfish

The Lion’s Mane, the world’s largest jellyfish, makes possibly the world’s prettiest pillow! If you happen to encounter one of these gorgeous creatures, just think of Glen Close in “Fatal Attraction”: Beautiful, seductive, toxic, deadly. No doubt one of these could kill a pet rabbit, and without the kettle of boiling water!

This navy blue pillow measures 19” wide, about the same width as the average Lion’s Mane bell. The indoor-outdoor fabric has been painted by hand (not a transfer, reproduction, reprint, decal or the like) with heat-set nontoxic textile paints. Extra time and special care has been taken to depict the true-to-life colors and appearance of this creature. The fiberfill insert is removable for laundering, although most splats can be spot-cleaned, hosed off or gently machine washed; air dry.

Out in the wild blue ocean, these jellies can grow to eight feet wide, with hundreds of tentacles as long as sixty feet! They hang out on the surface of the ocean, paralyzing and consuming whatever strays into their tentacles; and their carcasses are often found washed up on the beaches of the Pacific Northwest. One afternoon my little buddies and I found 24 of them on a beach walk.
