Ships Wheel Pillow
I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by, And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking And a gray mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking. (Sea-Fever, by John Masefield)
The direction of the wind, the set of the sails, and a course charted for adventure. Who has not dreamed of captaining a great vessel across at least one of the seven seas?
This handpainted indoor-outdoor pillow depicts the classic icon in shades of brown and gold on off-white upholstery fabric. My landlubber's vocabulary tends to describe the colors as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and caramel. There is just a touch of metallic finish to the caramel, suggestive of brass.
Measures 19"x19", and about five inches thick at the center. Polyester fiberfill insert removes easily through the envelope closure on the reverse. Most spot and spills clean up easily with just water and mild detergent, a spray of the garden hose, or gentle laundering; air dry.
Designed, painted, sewn, stuffed, signed and copyrighted on an island north of Seattle, where we enjoy the parade of vessels large and small.
