Colossal Squid Pillow
The world's largest invertebrate bears the animal kingdom's biggest eyes, about the size of a dinner plate. Likely the source of the legend of The Kraken, the Colossal Squid can grow as large as 45 feet in length and weigh thousands of pounds. In a blatant attempt to show up his octopus cousin, he sports two bonus tentacles in addition to his eight arms, all of which bear suckers and/or hooks. But not just ordinary hooks -- they swivel! These curved, swiveling weapons look like a humongous cat's claw and have left many a nasty scar on the Colossal Squid's arch-enemy, the Sperm Whale. Some of the hooks are three-sided. Ouch.
Each kraken has been hand-painted on durable all-weather lightweight upholstery fabric using permanent, nontoxic textile paints. The pillow measures 19"x19"x5" and has a removable fiberfill insert. Not a reprint, reproduction, decal or transfer. Intended for use on your patio, deck, beside your pool, on your yacht, hammock or beach blanket. Even in your house or cabin! Maybe just the right gift for the seafood fancier in the family. Designed, painted, sewn, stuffed, signed and copyrighted by the artist on a small island north of Seattle.
Only ten of these have been documented, so they remain shrouded in mystery. Judging from the arms and beaks found in the stomachs of sperm whales, their maximum size can only be estimated. Captain Nemo of The Nautilus in Jules Verne's novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea had close encounters with Mr. Squiddie when it attempted to hold his vessel in a love embrace.
